Man facing child rape charge

SANDUSKY — A Sandusky man is facing numerous sex charges after police executed a search warrant on his home on Tuesday. Kai P. Manner, 41, of the 600 block of Polk St., is facing three first-degree felony counts of rape and four felony counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person. Manner was allegedly sexually assaulting children younger than 10 and producing videos of the acts in his Polk Street home, according to Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver. Police received a tip about Manner from the Internet Crimes Against Children task force. An obscene video was allegedly sent through the phone application Signal. Using the tip, detectives obtained a search warrant for Manner's home. On Tuesday, they executed the warrant. Manner was not home at the time. Officers seized evidence, Oliver said. They also located at least one room that matched the setting in one of the videos. "This is one of the worst cases of child sexual abuse I've investigated in my time in law enforcement," Oliver said. Manner was later arrested at his job. He is currently incarcerated in Erie County Jail under a no-bond order. Manner was arraigned in Sandusky Municipal Court on Wednesday. He entered a plea of not guilty. His next court date was not listed as of Wednesday afternoon.
