Come try out for Caryl Crane

SANDUSKY — The Caryl Crane Youth Theatre is hosting open auditions for its upcoming fall productions of "Peter Pan," "Children's Letters To God" and the "CCYT Holiday Spectacular," which will occur throughout the remaining months of 2026. Auditions take place Sept. 7-8 inside the Hogrefe Building, 150 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The youth theater's mainstage productions provide tuition-free performance opportunities for ages 6 to 18. 'Peter Pan' "Peter Pan" will be presented Oct. 15-24 in the Regional Center for Arts & Academic Studies auditorium, 125 E. Adams St., in Sandusky. The youth theater seeks performers between the ages of 10 and 18 for the production. "Close your eyes and imagine, close them tight and pretend as you take off on a magical trip to Never Land where you never grow old," according to a production statement. "JM Barrie's timeless tale of the boy who refused to grow up is reborn as a spectacular musical with a score by Stiles and Drewe," it added. "Join Peter Pan as he whisks the Darling family's children beyond the stars to his island where there are 'no tedious distances between one adventure and the next.'" 'Children's Letters To God' "Children's Letters To God" will be presented Saturday, Nov. 7 in the same auditorium. This will be a concert presentation of the new musical. The youth theater seeks performers between the ages of 8 and 14 for the musical. "Based on the international bestselling book, 'Children's Letters to God,' this refreshingly comical musical asks some very serious questions, such as, 'Dear God: If you're so famous, how come you're not on TV?' or, 'Dear God, Do fish have a clue that it's raining?' and. 'Dear God, Who says God bless you when you sneeze?'" "Children's Letters of God" follows the lives of a group of children and their questions as they explore timeless issues, such as friendship, sibling rivalry, divorce, holidays, loss of pet, first love, and more. The show carries a universal message that crosses the boundaries of age, location and religion. Just as in the book, the musical is not specifically religious in nature. It's about children and the countless events in their lives that lead them to ask a lot of questions – some funny, some serious, some surprising. This show will be done in concert-style with minimal rehearsal and time commitment. It's "a great introduction for novice performers," the statement read. 'CCYT Holiday Spectacular' The annual "CCYT Holiday Spectacular" will be presented Dec. 3-5 in the same auditorium. The youth theater seeks performers between the ages of 6 and 18 for the production. "Our annual 'CCYT Holiday Spectacular' will be a return to its original format, 'The Mickey Mouse Club Christmas Concert,' with fun roles for actors, singers and dancers," the statement read, noting all participants must be at least 6 years old by the first rehearsal, scheduled for Nov. 16.
