Sandusky Bay Pathway making trails

Almost every night from spring to fall, Maribeth Ringholz strolls from her Anderson Street home to a long, narrow pier behind the Sandusky police department.With Marlee, her black English Labrador who leads the trek, the pair begin a 45-minute journey they've repeated hundreds of times.They keep returning because the similar venues always produce a unique perspective:Watching a bright, auburn sunset shading the sky above Lake Erie.Seeing Jet Skis ripping through water, or witnessing sailors catching a strong gust of wind to propel their motorless vehicles.Noticing children swinging on monkey bars and watching teenagers completing twisting, 360-degree full-body rotations in the air while on skateboards.A variety of visions continuously occupy Ringholz's eyes when she finishes her expedition at the Shelby Street Public Boat Launch.But the familiar images, such as century-old architecture sprinkled throughout downtown in Sandusky's former paper district along the waterfront, keep attracting Ringholz to the pathway."This is my favorite walk," Ringholz said.
