Need Thanksgiving dinner? Here's where to go

If you have a turkey in the fridge and someone to share it with on Thursday, consider yourself lucky. If you don't, volunteers throughout the area will be serving up generous helpings.Churches and other agencies are hosting free community meals for Thanksgiving, catering to those who are hungry for either food or company.Meals will be delivered to people who can't leave their homes, and transportation is also provided for those who need it.THANKSGIVING MEALS• Noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Victory Temple Soup Kitchen, 1613 Hayes Ave., Sandusky.• 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave. Meals are also available for carry-out or delivery. Free Thanksgiving dinner for all active military personnel and their families at 12304 Ohio 13, Milan. Families can attend with or without their military relative, but they must register no later than noon Wednesday. About 80 people have already registered, Veggie U spokeswoman Barb Jones said. To register call 419-499-7500.• A community Thanksgiving dinner for residents of Ottawa and Sandusky counties will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Woodmore High School cafeteria, 633 Fremont St., Elmore. Those who are able are asked to bring in a canned good item for local food pantries or a new unwrapped toy to support Toys for Tots.• A community Thanksgiving dinner is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the VFW hall on Bidwell Avenue in Fremont. All are welcome to attend, but carry-out is only available to residents of Sandusky County. Carry-out requests may be made by calling the VFW at 419-334-2551 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Drivers are still needed to deliver meals. Anyone interested in volunteering can call 419-334-2551.
