PREP ROUNDUP: Margaretta volleyball starts 2-0

CLYDE — The Margaretta volleyball team opened its season with two wins Saturday. The Polar Bears defeated Clyde 25-22, 12-25, 26-24 before topping Toledo Christian 25-20, 28-26. Against Clyde, Claire Conner tallied 11 kills for the Polar Bears. Defensively, Mya Feltner (16), Tarah Hershey (15) and Ella Limberios (13) each had double-digit digs. Facing Toledo Christian, Hershey had 10 assists, Feltner recorded seven kills and Renna Keller tallied seven digs. Perkins 3, TCC 0 TOLEDO — The Pirates notched their first win of the season, sweeping Toledo Central Catholic 25-11, 25-5, 25-11 in non-league action. Brooklyn Cassidy tallied 10 kills and three aces for Perkins (1-1) while Viera Walker tallied seven kills and five digs. Braelyn Davie registered 25 assists and five aces while Avisi Gehlot and Olivia Badamy each contributed seven digs and three aces. Monroeville goes 1-1 SYCAMORE — Mohawk defeated the Eagles 25-22, 25-23, 25-22 before Monroeville topped Edison 25-13, 25-19, 25-19 in a non-league tri-match at Mohawk. Against Mohawk, Sophia Stieber had 11 kills and four blocks for the Eagles (1-1) while Myra Paul and Gabby Loose each tallied eight kills. Kaci Poths registered 26 assists and Addison Homan tallied 25 digs. In the win over Edison, Stieber clocked 10 kills while Brooke Morman lined eight kills. Homan (five aces) had 27 digs and Poths registered 20 assists. In the final match, Mohawk defeated Edison 25-16, 25-16, 25-18. In two matches, Abby Cloud had 13 kills, eight points and six digs for the Chargers (0-2). Macari Harris and Peyton Werner each lined 10 kills, Peyton Bissell registered 36 assists and 14 digs and Reese Wells had 11 points, 10 digs and seven kills. Norwalk 3, Ashland 1 ASHLAND — The Truckers avoided a fifth set in a non-league win, defeating Ashland 25-18, 25-20, 12-25, 27-25. For Norwalk (2-0), Emily Tyler finished with 28 assists, five kills and five digs. Sawyer Wineman contributed 24 digs. Amanda Rommell had 10 kills and Maddie Gamble had 16 digs. Bellevue wins 2 BELLEVUE — Bellevue started its season with a pair of home wins. The Lady Red defeated Gibsonburg 25-23, 25-17. Finley Lapata had nine kills. Bellevue defeated Oak Harbor 25-13, 25-17 as Callie Cramer had eight kills. South Central 3, SMCC 0 GREENWICH — The Panthers fell 25-14, 25-11, 25-21 to South Central. Finley Karr led SMCC (0-1) with 10 digs, 10 assists and three kills while Khloe West had 10 digs, six kills and four assists. Reid Didion added 11 digs and three kills for the Panthers. BOYS SOCCER Port Clinton 2, Genoa 0 GENOA — Will Osborn scored twice to lead the Redskins to the non-league victory. Osborn scored in the first half for Port Clinton (2-2) on a penalty kick. He added a second goal in the second half off a corner kick assist from Clark Fry. Norwalk 4, Madison 0 NORWALK — Noah Jameson scored two goals to lead the Truckers to the non-league win.. Kingston Gonzales and Aiden Khan added goals for the Truckers (2-1). Conor Nickle had two assists. Clear Fork 2, Edison 1 MILAN TWP. — Israyel Bellman scored for the Chargers in a 2-1 loss to Clear Fork. Valo Lewis assisted Bellman's goal for Edison (2-1-1). GIRLS SOCCER Genoa 9, Port Clinton 0 GENOA — The Redskins fell to 1-3 with the non-league loss. Madison 2, Norwalk 0 NORWALK — Madison shut out Norwalk (1-2), which got 21 saves from goalkeeper Becca Farmer. TENNIS Perkins 3rd at doubles invite PERKINS TWP. — Paige Loris and Raina Kattouah finished second at third doubles, leading Perkins to a third-place finish at its doubles invitational. Loris and Kattouah opened with a win over Huron's Marta Glasgow and Harper Bell (5-1, 5-1) before taking down Lexington's Lucy Thomas and Kenley Meyer (5-1, 5-3). In the final, Sylvania Northview's Ainsley Fordham and Daphne Burnett defeated the Perkins duo 5-3, 5-4 (3). Northview won the team title with 120 points. Lexington (55) was runner-up. Perkins tallied 51 points, Huron (33) was sixth, Sandusky (15) finished seventh and Edison (10) was eighth. Perkins' Lexi Green and Sarah West took third at second doubles. Green and West opened with a win over Sandusky's Takoah Schreck and Karis Schreck (5-0, 5-2) before losing to Madison's Destini Conrad and Lyla Walker, 5-1, 5-4 (7). In the third-place match, Green and West defeated Lexington's Brooklyn Parks and Kaitlyn Parks, 8-7 (4). Edison's Scarlett Bennett and Katie O'Hara were fourth at first doubles. Perkins' Emma Marquart and Isabella Chandran finished fourth at fourth doubles.
