Mekong makes a comeback

PERKINS TWP. — A popular Vietnamese restaurant returned with the same name and mouthwatering menu but in a new spot. In late January, Mekong Restaurant Sandusky re-debuted in a storefront, formerly home to Denny's near Ghostly Manor Thrill Center.Mekong Restaurant Sandusky re-debuted in a storefront, formerly home to DennyÕs near Ghostly Manor Thrill Center.About three months ago, Mekong ceased operations and closed its prior location, about a mile south on Milan Road inside a building shared with Chipotle Mexican Grill.Customers can still order the same appetizing options — variations of noodle soups, broken ride and egg noodle dishes, grilled platters, spring rolls, stir-fried concoctions and much more — with some new additions.Though diners can expect some new features, most notably a bar featuring upward of 16 beers on tap, doubling Mekong's previous options at its past place.Pho, a Vietnamese soup, is made at Mekong on Milan Road in Perkins Township on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018.People walking in instantly notice a larger, more comfortable setting, Mekong owner Chuong Bui said."I wanted to make it bigger, especially in the bar area," Bui said. "It's a lot more open now, and I like that. Come check out how nice it is here."Mekong Restaurant Sandusky is at 3321 Milan Road (U.S. 250).
