UPDATE: 2 shot on E. Parish St.

SANDUSKY — Two people were shot on Sandusky's east side early Sunday morning. Just before 12:30 a.m., first responders were called to the 1200 block of E. Parish St. for a report of two people with gunshot wounds. Police officers arrived first and found two people who had been shot. Officers provided medical aid until EMS arrived, according to a Sandusky police media release. One of the victims was shot in the abdomen and one in the neck, according to Sandusky fire Capt. Matt Lesch. Sandusky EMTs transported both victims to Firelands Regional Medical Center. Large crowds formed at the site of the shooting and later at the hospital, the media release states. "Officers were required to manage numerous individuals whose actions interfered with emergency response efforts," the release states. "Multiple subjects were arrested and charged with misconduct at an emergency." As of 1 p.m. Sunday, both victims are in critical condition, receiving care at a Cleveland-area hospital, according to Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver. Oliver credited the assistance from agencies including the Erie County Sheriff's Office, Perkins police and Ohio State Highway Patrol "Their support at both the shooting scene and the hospital was instrumental in securing the scenes and managing the large crowds," he said.
