An amazing 'Adventure' thus far

PERKINS TWP. — Many people have enjoyed their visits to Adventure Play, now under new ownership. Earlier this summer, the Akkads — father/husband Taz; mother/wife Dina; and their children, Bashar, 11, and Wendy, 8 — took over this youth-first recreation park on Milan Road (U.S. 250) in Perkins Township near Staples. They officially reopened the site in July following a several-month-long closure during an ownership transition period. "I have owned and operated businesses my entire life," said Taz, who relocated his family from Washington State for this new venture. "Knowing that I can run this business with my family, that really excited me." Adventure Play is considered a self-contained inflatable city with more than a dozen different attractions or "neighborhoods" encompassed within, such as a "rock" climbing wall, slides and obstacle courses. Through a main entrance, people — whether adults or children — can access various stations across a 10,000-square-foot facility. So far, they remain grateful for all the guests who've shown up and supported them. "I'm super excited," Dina said. "It's going to be a fun business to run, and I'm looking forward to seeing families and making new friends."
