Chamber embraces new Vermilion educators

WAKEMAN — The Vermilion Chamber of Commerce recently hosted its new teachers luncheon at Vermilion Valley Vineyards. The event brought together "our schools, chamber members, businesses and community leaders to give our newest teachers a warm Vermilion welcome," according to an event statement. Among the newest educators: • Abigail Banks — Sailorway Middle School counselor • Noah Jamison — intervention specialist at Sailorway Middle School • Autumn Knierim — seventh-grade math teacher at Sailorway Middle School • Brittany Remaklus — district special education director • Jacqueline Sergent Vermilion Elementary School preschool teacher "We wanted each of our new teachers to leave today knowing that our business community is behind them," the statement read, noting the chamber and the Vermilion Lions Club presented them with gifts and goodies to take home. "To our new teachers: You are beginning so much more than a new school year in Vermilion. You have the opportunity to become the teacher someone remembers years from now as one of the people who helped shape the person they became," the statement read.
