PREP ROUNDUP: Guhn and Farrar win at Bob Wilson Invite

CLYDE — Clyde senior Kenzlie Guhn and junior Ariah Farrar teamed up to win the first doubles championship at the Bob Wilson Memorial Tennis Tournament on Saturday at Clyde High School. After a bye in the first round, the duo took down Bowling Green's Miriam Faulkner and Meredith Buchhop (10-2) and Sylvania Southview's Annette Kim and Gabby Faber (10-6). Southview was the overall team champion with 42 points. Willard was runner-up with 32 points while Clyde was fourth (22 points), Bellevue finished fifth (12) and Huron was sixth (10). Ava Fosnight was runner-up for the Fliers at second singles. She defeated Huron's Blaire Johnson (10-0) and Bellevue's Leeah Hinojosa (10-7) before losing to Southview's Jamie Chung (10-3) in the final. For Bellevue, Emerson Snyder (first singles), Hinojosa and the duo of Lanei Williams and Reese Dennings (first doubles) each finished fourth. For Huron, Avery Dudziak (third singles) and the team of Aspynn Wicker and Harper Bell (second doubles) each took fourth. PC runner-up at Norwalk NORWALK — Shantha Weit at first singles and the team of Lilly Hatt and Maya Klimentov at first doubles were second for Port Clinton at the Norwalk Invitational. That helped the Redskins finish runner-up as a team with 80 points. Perrysburg won four of the five brackets en route to 130 points and the team championship. Weit opened with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Perrysburg B's Ava Connors before a 6-2, 7-5 win over Norwalk A's Lydia Trost. Weit fell 6-0, 6-1 to Bryan's Eden Owens in the final. Hatt and Klimentov beat PC B's Sophia Hargrove and Charlotte Smith (6-0, 6-1) before defeating Shelby's Paton Stover and Chloe Howell (6-0, 6-1). They lost a 6-2, 6-3 championship match to Perrysburg A's Ava Geffe and Savannah Boris. Jae Mazur (second singles) and the duo of Evalee Cross and Kyla Buchman each took third. Mazur opened with a win over Shelby's Macie Keller (6-1, 6-2) before losing to Perrysburg A's Freyja Langrish (6-4, 6-2). She bounced back to defeat Perrysburg B's Kennedy Saito 7-6 (4), 6-1. Cross and Buchman first took down Norwalk B's Carsyn Swick and Jessica Chappell (6-0, 6-1) before losing to Norwalk A's Libby Lark and Scarlet Scheider (6-3, 6-0). The duo then defeated Bryan's Mya Moore and Madison Klinepeter (6-3, 5-7, 11-9). Norwalk A finished fourth with 78 points, one point behind Bryan's third-place finish. Addy Rospert was runner-up at second singles for the Truckers. She defeated Bryan's Ashley Mays (6-3, 6-0) before a win over Saitor (6-2, 6-0). She lost 6-3, 6-0 to Langrish in the final. Leski Jurczuk was second at third singles for Norwalk. The junior opened with a tough 6-7 (5), 6-3, 10-5 win over Port Clinton's Callie StClair. She then took down Bryan's Mackenzie Allison (6-0, 6-0) before losing to Perrysburg A's Adalyn Burns. The Truckers also got a runner-up finish from Lark and Schneider at second doubles. The duo defeated Shelby's Leah Adkins and Brinley Korbas (6-1, 6-0) before the win over Cross and Buchman. In the final, they lost to Perrysburg A's Lillith Dunn and Maggie Gawron (6-4, 6-3). Port Clinton and Norwalk meet in a regular-season match Monday at Norwalk.
