August offers all-ages programing at district

MILAN — The Milan-Berlin Library District will offer a variety of programs for children, teens, adults and families throughout August, featuring author talks, book clubs, food-themed events, crafts and early literacy activities at both the Milan and Berlin Heights public libraries. Among some featured events: Berlin Heights Public Library, 4 E. Main St., Berlin Heights • Author Talks: Mark Strecker: 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Aug. 12 — Author Mark Strecker will discuss his latest book, "The Great Railroad Strike in Ohio," and the events surrounding the historic labor movement of 1877. • MBLD Pop-Up Cafe: Fabulous Fruit Desserts: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 15 — Patrons of all ages can sample a variety of homemade fruit-based desserts while supplies last. Milan Public Library, 19 Church St., Milan • Ready, Set, Kindergarten!: 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Tuesday — Children ages 3-5 and their caregivers can build foundational skills for a successful start to kindergarten through hands-on learning stations and activities. • Teen Splatter Paint — 11 a.m. to noon on Aug. 15 — Splatter, sling, drip or pour paint at our outdoor art event designed to get messy. Wear clothes and shoes you do not mind getting sprayed in paint. This is an outdoor event and will be canceled in the case of heavy rain or severe weather conditions. Young adults ages 11-18 are welcome to register for this event by Aug. 12.
