John D. McGraw Sr.

HURON — John D. McGraw Sr. passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, surrounded by his family.He was born Aug. 14, 1933, in Bucyrus, Ohio, and attended high school in Tiro, Ohio, where he met his wife, Carolyn Fagan McGraw. They were married for 66 years.John served in the Army Reserves from 1952-1956. After moving his family in 1960 from Galion, Ohio, to Huron, he wasted little time getting involved in community activities.He served as past president of the Huron Jaycees, Huron Booster Club and was one of the founders of the Huron Water Festival, now Huron Riverfest. He worked at Columbia Gas for 40 years, before retiring in 1991 .John is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Sharon (Jim) Wilson; son, Brian (Katy); daughter-in-law, Kathie; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his son, John Jr.; and granddaughter, Amy Oney.Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main St., Huron, and from 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, until services at noon, at the funeral home.
