PHOTOS: Family Fun Fair fills park

VERMILION — Hundreds of people filled Showse Park Friday, July 31 for an evening of free activities, food and entertainment during the Family Fun Fair hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Vermilion and Main Street Vermilion. Attendance appeared to approach 1,000 people as families moved among bounce houses, face painting, a petting zoo, a balloon artist, a dunk tank and a touch-a-truck display that included a Vermilion fire engine. Children also participated in sack races, hit baseballs from a tee and enjoyed other small games and attractions throughout the park. Volunteers from the Kiwanis Club of Vermilion, Ritter Public Library, Vermilion Grace United Methodist Church, Vermilion United Church of Christ Congregational and members of Vermilion police and fire all provided help and support for the event. The baseball theme fair ran from 6-9 p.m. with families staying after for a Movies in the Parks showing of "The Sandlot." Aunt Ruth's Little Store distributed snack bags sponsored by the VOL Clubhouse and Community Center, while local business Poppin Around provided free popcorn to those attending the movie,
