Health dept. hosting after-hours immunization clinic

NORWALK — Huron County Public Health invites the community to mark their calendars for an after-hours immunization clinic the local health care organization will host on Wednesday, Aug. 19. This clinic is primarily to assist working parents/guardians getting their children's back-to-school vaccines for the 2026-27 school year, however, Huron County Public Health will offer a wide variety of immunizations available for all ages. The after-hours immunization clinic will occur at the department's main office, 28 Executive Drive, Norwalk. Among the back-to-school immunizations available: • Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (DTaP) • Hepatitis B • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) • Polio • Varicella (Chickenpox) • Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (TDaP) • Meningococcal ACWY (MCV4) The complete list of back-to-school vaccines and age/grade requirements for vaccines for the 2026-27 school year as set forth by the Ohio Department of Health can be found by searching online at Google for "Ohio Immunization Summary for School Attendance 2026-2027" and clicking the Ohio Department of Health link. For appointments, people can contact Huron County Public Health's nursing division at 419-668-1652, ext. 241. Patients need to bring the following items to their appointments: • Photo identification • Insurance card; Huron County Public Health is an in-network provider for Medicaid, Medicare and many private insurances. • For children, a parent or guardian must accompany a minor; No child is turned away for vaccines-for-children vaccines if their family is unable to pay for the shots. For families covered by out of network private insurance, a receipt will be provided to turn into an insurance company.
