Police: Child fires gun into bed

SANDUSKY — A young boy allegedly fired a gun inside a Sandusky home.Nobody was injured during the Tuesday incident, which occurred at about 8:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of Clinton St. The boy is 6 years old, according to a Sandusky police report.Police arrived at the residence and spoke with a woman who said she was the boy's mother. The woman told officers she and another man went to the store and had a family friend to watch her son, the report stated.While they were gone, the boy allegedly took a 9 mm Glock handgun — which the woman claimed was sitting in a holster atop a six-foot-tall bookshelf — and fired one shot into the woman's bed, according to the report. It's not clear how the boy gained access to the gun.The woman returned home and noticed a hole in her bed and asked the boy what happened.
