Man charged with resisting during warrant arrest

PERKINS TWP. — Police had to take a Sandusky man to the ground Sunday during a warrant arrest. Brendan M. Bickley, 30, of the 1200 block of W. Osborne St., was charged with possessing a controlled substance and resisting arrest. Bickley was also charged with domestic violence, assault and child endangerment from an earlier incident on Dec. 3.A Perkins officer noticed Bickley's car Sunday at Walmart on Milan Road. The officer ran the vehicle's registration and learned Bickley had warrants through Sandusky police, according to a Perkins police report.An officer walked into Walmart and found Bickley. The officer then told him he was under arrest when he allegedly "tensed up" and tried to prevent police from putting his arm behind his back, the report stated.The officer then tackled Bickley to the ground and cuffed him. While on the ground, Bickley allegedly yelled that he would be charging police $250,000 for every minute in which he was "illegally detained," and on the way out of the store, he stated he was going to be a millionaire, according to the report.He also allegedly said that he only has to submit to "God's law" and does not have to follow any other laws, the report stated.Officers searched Bickley and found a strip of Suboxone, a drug used to treat opioid dependence, in his wallet, according to the report.Bickley was transported to the Firelands Regional Medical Center to be medically evaluated before he was taken to the Erie County jail.
