Stars of Fireworks Star fundraiser recognized

OAK HARBOR — The Oak Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce recently recognized its 2026 Fireworks Star Fundraiser top sellers. "The competition was close this year, and thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of our local businesses and their amazing employees, we had another successful Fireworks Star fundraiser," according to a chamber statement. Here are this year's top sellers: • First place: Travis at Community Markets • Second place: Jasmine at Community Markets • Third place: Cathy at Friendship Food Stores Beyond these stores, the chamber also showed appreciation for Wild Brew, Body Works Fitness Studio & Gym and The Shakery Health Bar for their participation in supporting a community staple. Proceeds from this fundraiser help ensure fireworks can happen at Oak Harbor's annual Independence Day Celebration, which occurred on July 3 in the village. "Thank you for opening your doors, displaying stars, encouraging donations and believing in this community tradition," the chamber noted. "We also want to thank every employee who took the time to ask customers if they'd like to purchase a star and every single person who said 'Yes.' Those small acts of generosity added up to something truly special. Because of all of you, thousands of people were able to gather together and enjoy an unforgettable fireworks show over the Portage River."
