Sandusky stabilizing Shoreline Park's shelter

SANDUSKY — Sandusky crews began shoring up Shoreline Park's shelter.Starting earlier this week, city workers started a job to patch up the structure protecting those underneath it, for picnics and events, from weather elements.With help from city public services director Brad Link, here's a primer on the job:• Purpose: "The shelter has damage to the roof from years of weather on the waterfront. We are starting to see some damage to the tongue and groove ceiling and wanted to complete the repairs before more damage was done to the wood."• Timeline: "Construction will start this week and is planned to be completed in a few weeks."• Expense: "The cost of the metal roof, material and hardware, was (about $3,700)."• Related work: "Other parks that have received the upgrade to metal roofing include the Churchwell Park, Schaeffer Park, Foxborough Park and Lions Park shelters.
