Huron grad appears on 'Jeopardy!'

HURON — A 2005 Huron High School graduate appeared on one of America's most popular TV quiz shows: "Jeopardy!"Rod Swain took the lead heading into Final Jeopardy in the episode that aired Tuesday night. He and the other two contestants all selected the wrong answer, however, Swain wagered a larger amount than the returning champion, Nan Bauer, who ended up winning.Swain, who today resides in Columbus and works as an AmeriCorps recruiter, placed second and took home $2,000.The former Academic Challenge member at Huron High School couldn't bear to watch himself on TV, according to a post on his Facebook page."In case anyone is curious, I'm literally so averse to watching myself on Jeopardy / TV in general, that I went down, deep into the Earth's crust today (in Carlsbad, N.M.) to avoid it and risked exposure to many, many bats, (of which I am afraid). Sidenote: Carlsbad Caverns is a must see."Despite his runner-up status, many consider Swain a winner."Rod, you did awesome!!!!" according to a post from Amanda Coyle-Timmerman. "So great!
