Fremont man sentenced to prison in child rape case

FREMONT — A Fremont man who previously pleaded guilty to raping a child was sentenced to prison on Monday. Tylan C. Wright, 23, of the 1600 block of Dickinson St., was convicted on one count of rape, a first-degree felony. Wright pleaded guilty to the single charge on Feb. 3 in exchange for one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony, to be dismissed. Sandusky County Common Pleas Court Judge Jeremiah Ray sentenced Wright to serve seven to 10 and a half years in prison. Under the terms of his sentencing, Wright received credit for over one year in jail served and is classified as a Tier 3 sex offender, which means that he must verify his home and work addresses every three months for the rest of his life. Wright is also subject to a mandatory term of five years post-release control, according to court records. Background The investigation into Wright began on May 27, 2025, when Fremont police arrested him and booked him into the Sandusky County Jail on one count of rape, a first-degree felony, and one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony. Wright was indicted by a Sandusky County grand jury a month later on the same charges, with the crimes having occurred the day before his arrest, according to his indictment. Wright engaged in "sexual conduct" with a child under the age of 16 "by force or threat of force."
