REGIONAL TRACK: Huron sweeps regional titles

MARION — The boys and girls track and field teams from Huron won team championships at the Division IV regional meet at Marion Harding High School on Friday. The boys finished with 61 points while Margaretta was runner-up with 57 points. The girls tallied 63 points with Bluffton finishing second with 58. On the boys side, Joe Schaeffer won the 200-meter dash in 21.8 seconds for Huron. He anchored the 4x200 team along with Caleb Staley, Ayden Miller and Peter Cencer that was second in 1:29.56. They finished behind the Margaretta quartet of Kale Bailey, Carter Luzader, Julian Washington and Zack Bouy, who won in 1:28.93. Later in the evening, the Polar Bears took down the 4x100. The quartet of Bouy, Luzader, Mason Reinbolt and Bailey won in 42.76 seconds. Huron's Cencer was second in the 300 hurdles (39.52) while Schaeffer was third in the 100 (10.94). Edison's Trevor Leimeister was fourth in the 100 (11.02) and sixth in the 200 (22.3). Margaretta's Cole Zang was runner-up in the 1600, finishing in a personal-best 4:20.65. Huron's Sage Edgerly-Bork was third (4:22.62). Western Reserve's Hayden Keith was second in the shot put with a top mark of 58 feet, 9.5 inches while Margaretta's Jake Bouy was third in the high jump (6-5). Huron's quartet of Carter Brennan, Cencer, Staley and Schaeffer took third in the 4x400 (3:23.87). Huron's Jason Nims finished fifth in the 800 (1:57.86). On the girls side, Huron's Rylie Towns took home the win in the 1600, running a personal-best 4:59.71. Teammate Andrea Lesnak was fourth (5:06.46) while Port Clinton's Morgan Wiechman was fifth (5:14.37). Willard's 4x100 quartet of Cora Clark, Mya Stephens, Jocelyn Maynard and LaMya Hicks finished third in 50.05. Huron's Avery Bork, Khloe Wagoner, Sasha Fry and Kate Ryan were fifth (50.31) while Port Clinton's Lily Wagner, Audrey Rohrer, Riley Dobbelare and Addisyn Mooney were seventh (51.41). The Tigers' 4x200 of Ava Manner, Olivia Kohlmann, Fry and Ryan took third (1:45.12) while Kohlmann, Laney Schlessman, Fry and Ryan were fourth in the 4x400 (4:04.76). Hicks won the girls long jump with a personal-best leap of 18-5.75. Clark took eighth (16-4) in the long jump. Willard's Paige Adams took fifth in the discus with a throw of 109-7. Port Clinton's Calleigh Fought was eighth with a top mark of 103 feet. Defending state champion Micaela Stork did not advance, having three fouls on her three throws. Huron's Hadley Barkema was sixth in the pole vault (10-8). Huron's Makenna Conley finished sixth in the 100 hurdles (15.7) while Hayden Wilson was eighth in the 110 hurdles (15.79) for the Tigers. Edison's Claire Michaelis took seventh in the 800 (2:21) while Schlessman was eighth (2:21.93). Division II LEXINGTON — Norwalk's Elliot Gahring finished second in the 400 at the Division II regional meet at Lexington High School. Gahring finished in 48.7 seconds, just behind Beechcroft's Nehemiah Mills (47.78). Sandusky's Keylan Howell took sixth in the 300 hurdles (38.92) while teammate Louis Johnson was sixth in the high jump (6-2). Sandusky's Connor Moffit was eighth in the shot put with a top throw of 49 feet, 7.25 inches. On the girls side, Norwalk's Xavia Immel was runner-up in the 800, crossing the line in 2:14.74. Teammate Adyson Lepley took fourth in the pole vault (11 feet) while Norwalk's Kinleigh Lesch finished fifth in the discus (123-1). Sandusky's Taliyah Farris was sixth in the 300 hurdles (46.60) while Sandusky's quartet of McKenzi Johnson, Crysten Johnson, Emani Thames and Farris were eighth in the 4x400 (4:10.88). Norwalk's Olive Leavitt was 13th in the 1600 (5:33.80).
