New owners excited to take over e-bike shop

SANDUSKY — A near-death experience led Gary Eddy to the Sandusky Bay Pathway. The pathway led him to buy an e-bike shop. Now he wants to get others out there, too. The journey for Gary and his wife, Kelly, to owning Pedego Electric Bikes Sandusky, 131 E. Water St., started with a near-death experience in life that sent him searching for a healthy hobby. He found himself riding the pathway and had a bike issue that caused him to strike up a conversation with Jeff Neibler, the previous owner. Gary came home that night and told his wife, Kelly, "I think we should buy a bike shop." He spoke it into existence. And truly, there's never been a better time to ride, Gary said. "The pathway is phenomenal right now and keeps getting better. Electric bicycles, or e-bikes for short, let you ride into the wind, tackle hills and go farther than you thought possible, working as hard as you want or letting the bike carry you. If you want to feel like a kid again, without the wipeouts, the trikes are waiting for you. Not to mention, you can take the whole family on a single e-bike, explore neighborhoods and see places you'd never notice by car and breathe fresh air while feeling utterly free. Gary and Kelly grew up in Sandusky, and Gary's dad ran a plumbing shop two doors down from their current storefront. It's been fun and delightful watching life come full circle, Gary said.
