Colossalcon set to kick off

HURON TWP. — Lovers of anime and pop culture from across the world are flocking to the Sandusky area this week for the annual return of Colossalcon Prime. Colossalcon Prime opens at 6 p.m. today and runs until 4 p.m, Sunday, May 31 at Kalahari Resorts on Milan Road (U.S. 250). Colossalcon Prime is the original and most popular convention in a national five-event convention series that brings together those with a passion for Japanese animation and entertainment. Though the convention was founded as (and is still primarily) an anime convention, it has evolved into a more encompassing pop-culture extravaganza. Since the Colossalcon began calling Kalahari home in 2009, it has helped attract tens of thousands of attendees to the local area, selling out area hotels and kicking off Vacationland's tourism season with a culturally diverse boom. With the wide array of entertaining offerings, Colossalcon has a little bit to offer everyone, from con-going experts to newbies who have never been.
