Entire Bellevue starting lineup honored in District 6

The postseason awards for Bellevue continue to roll in. The Lady Red are 23-0 ahead of Saturday's second round tournament game against Upper Sandusky. Bellevue has been dominant this entire season and when the District 6 awards were announced Tuesday, the Lady Red's entire starting lineup received first team honors in Div. IV Senior Kaitlyn Turinsky (13.2 points per game) was named Player of the Year while Ava Jakubcin-Theis (13.4 PPG), Mazie Gracemyer (10.1), CJ Savage (9.9) and Ellie Freitag (7.8) joined her on the first team. Turinsky will be the district's representative in the North-South all-star game in the big schools contest. Bellevue coach Kory Santoro was named Coach of the Year in Div. IV. In his 12th season, Santoro has compiled a record of 265-43 with seven district titles and last year's state championship. The Lady Red have won 39 straight games. Port Clinton coach Kevin Belden was awarded the top coaching honor in Div. V. The Redskins started the year after losing five seniors and its top returner to transfer. Port Clinton has just seven players, but are 11-11 ahead of Saturday's tournament game at Oak Harbor. Junior Alana Zibert was a first-team pick for the Redskins. She tops Port Clinton with 14.7 points a night while setting the school record for single-season 3-pointers made this year. Edison's Ella Booth (11.1 PPG) was also a first-team selection in Div. V. Veteran Margaretta coach Ray Neill was named the Coach of the Year in Div. VI. The Polar Bears set a school record for wins in a regular season after going 21-1. Neill picked up his 300th win as a basketball coach this season, as well as his 800th overall win as a head coach following 510 wins as a baseball coach. Margaretta seniors Cassidy Lane (14.5 PPG) and Ellyse Schaefer (10.6) were first-team picks. Lane will be the district's representative in the North-South game in the small schools game. The area had three first-team selections on the Div. II/Div. III combined honors: Norwalk's Trinity Lazzara (12.5 PPG) and Emmie Leber (12 PPG), and Sandusky's Maekhiya Rameau (14.7 PPG). Two players represented the area on the Div. VII first-team list: Danbury junior Lauren Bergman (13.8 PPG) and St. Mary Central Catholic freshman Reid Didion (13.1 PPG). Div.
