Superintendent search begins

SANDUSKY — Officials representing Sandusky Schools recently announced that the beginning of its superintendent search will involve a series of meetings seeking community feedback. The first scheduled Sandusky Community Focus Group meeting takes place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8 at Sandusky High School, Room 300, 2130 Hayes Ave. (Ohio 4). Participants should enter through the front doors of the middle school breezeway entrance where they will then be escorted to the room. Officials welcome residents to attend any focus group session on this topic, conducted by the district's consultant, Kristi Robbins. Both district stakeholders and the Ohio School Boards Association, helping to find a new school leader, believe in this initial process strongly. This meeting is the only one that's been scheduled so far. Input received from this and other focus group sessions will be used to create the profile for the next superintendent. The consultant will listen for common themes suggested by participants, which will help the candidate screening and interview process. The district said these three questions will be discussed: ● What are the major issues the district is anticipated to face in the coming years? ● What should the performance expectations be for the incoming leader? ● What are some key personal and professional characteristics needed for the position? Earlier this year, the district's former superintendent, Dan Rambler, submitted his letter of resignation in which he stated he was leaving the district to "pursue another opportunity." The district's chief of staff and transformation officer, Muratori, is now acting as interim superintendent.
