New clothing company supports police programs

PERKINS TWP. — Anyone who wears items from a new clothing company should feel comfortable in both how it feels and where all proceeds from sales go. Cody Webb, a local law enforcement officer and area real estate agent, recently launched Axe & Shield. "It's an apparel company," said Webb, suggesting people can visit axnshield.com to browse what's available. "As of right now, we have T-shirts, hoodies, crewnecks and hats. That is our starting lineup," said Webb, noting how each product features a quality tri-blend fabric combination consisting of cotton, polyester and rayon. "Over time, we will be developing more athletic wear and all-around comfortable wear," he said. "Everything will be a limited release. When I come out with a release, every single product will have a limited amount, and when it's gone, it's gone. Then I'll design a new line or theme and release that." Webb stressed he's not profiting off of this venture in any way. "I'm not taking a penny," he said. So where does the money go? Proceeds funnel back into an account overseen by Webb, which will get donated to local first responder-supervised initiatives solely relying on donations, such as K-9 and drug prevention programs. And by purchasing the clothing, people can visually show their support for these frontline public servants, Webb said. "My company was created with one sole purpose in mind: to be the cornerstone of the community for people who want to give back," Webb said. "There is nothing like this that exists." Webb continues to negotiate with major area retailers to stock his products on their shelves. "Not only have we developed apparel that is on par, if not better, than any name brand company you can find in the market today, but the clothing you are going to wear is going to represent and symbolize what people in this community stand for, which is to support and give back and show an appreciation toward first responders," Webb said.
