Accused shoplifter walked out with $1K in goods

PERKINS TWP. — Police arrested a man Thursday who allegedly ran from Walmart on Milan Road with a television and other items.Daryl Wilson Jr., 39, of the 700 block of West State St. in Port Clinton, was charged with felony receiving stolen property and misdemeanor criminal simulation, resisting arrest and marijuana possession.At about 8:40 a.m., a caller reported a man who allegedly ran from Walmart with a television and a cart of items, according to a Perkins police report.Wilson Jr., DarylPolice arrived and saw a man matching the suspect's description near the lobby of the old Super 8 motel, the report states. The man started jogging away, and Walmart employees told police the man appeared to be the same person who ran from the store.A detective drove from the scene and stopped the suspect, later identified as Wilson, near Chili's on Milan Road, according to the report. Police asked Wilson if the stolen goods were behind a nearby fence, and Wilson allegedly admitted they were.As police attempted to cuff Wilson, he allegedly pulled away and started moving toward Milan Road. The detective pulled Wilson to the ground and placed handcuffs on him, the report states.When searching Wilson's sweatpants, police allegedly found marijuana buds, a counterfeit $100 bill and an unidentified orange pill, according to the report. Employees found the stolen goods — worth $1,017 — behind a fence.Wilson was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center after he said he had a prior wrist injury, according to the report.
