Man found with homemade mace, knife-glove

FREMONT — A Fremont man was arrested on Thursday after he was allegedly found carrying weapons including a make-shift mace and a glove with four-finger knives.Blake A. Krauss, 19, of Fremont, was charged with obstructing police business, carrying concealed weapons, and marijuana paraphernalia possession.Police responded to a building alarm call at about 2 a.m. An officer saw a man, carrying two backpacks and dressed in all back, cross Franklin Avenue near West State Street, according to a Fremont police report. Officers asked to speak with the man, later identified as Krauss, but he started to back away. Police grabbed the backpack he held in front of him and he allegedly ran away, the report stated. Police chased Krauss when he refused to stop. Officers announced he was under arrest and if he didn't stop running they'd use their tasers.Officers shot Krauss with a taser when he refused to stop, and he stumbled and fell to the ground, according to the report. Officers then handcuffed him.Police searched him and found in his pockets a folding knife and make-shift weapon comprised of brass plate with a ring attached to it and a screw tip sticking out of the top.Krauss said he'd been homeless for two days after his parents kicked him out for not having a job. He needed the weapons for his protection because "it's dangerous out here," the report stated.EMS arrived and assessed Krauss since a taser was used on him. EMTs decided he would not need any further medical attention and he was taken to the police station.Police searched through Krauss's bags finding additional weapons including an X-ACTO knife, a bandana with two locks tied to a corner to make a homemade mace and a metal Freddy Krueger-like four-fingered knife glove.
